Dear Reader,

It's been a while since our last newsletter - time we used wisely for many interesting and exciting topics.

Therefore, in this edition, we'd like to show you the wide range of topics in cybersecurity today by pointing out some of the highlights both here at Cybersecurity Magazine and from around the web.

Enjoy reading - and stay healthy!

We'll start with a topic which should be empasized more than it is, not only in cybersecurity, but in the whole IT industry in general: diversity. Especially in light of the current talent shortage, our industry is well advised to take diversity more seriously. Which is why we’re especially thrilled to have had the chance to interview Vandana Verma, whose initiative Infosec Girls aims to promote women in their careers in cybersecurity.

Interview with Vandana Verma from Infosec Girls

I've always wanted to put this in a newsletter: And now for something completely different. Mid September marked the official "coding week" in many countries across the globe, and one of our most-read articles talks about the role of coding in cybersecurity:

The Future of Cybersecurity and Coding’s Role in Getting us There

One of my favorite topics we have covered in the past is "Post Quantum Cryptography" - we featured some very interesting articles on this, including an interview with Mark Pecen of ETSI. One of the questions I have been asking myself is how the industry deals with this upcoming challenge. Well, SAP, one of the biggest software companies in the world, has some answers:

Post Quantum Cryptography: Renewing the last line of defense

Of course, there were some interesting articles we found around the web, too. One example: the cybersecurity industry often faces the accusation of being reactive only, i.e. only reacting on attacks of cybercriminals. Well, the following article proves that statement wrong:

Security researchers have secretly distributed an Emotet vaccine

And, let's not forget, every technology also brings new risks - this is especially true in cybersecurity, as you can read over at SC Media:

Innovation also brings cybersecurity risk

And, if this is not enough to point out the increasing importance of cybersecurity in today's complex world, we found one last article for you.

Cyber losses are increasing in frequency and severity
